The American Rescue Plan Act, signed into law on March 11, 2021, excludes the first $10,200 of unemployment per taxpayer on tax returns with an AGI (adjusted gross income) of less than $150,000. If we have already filed your tax return and it had unemployment, the IRS has asked that we not do anything at this time. They are still figuring out if they will be able to correct things on their own or if we need to file an amended tax return. We have a report of affected clients, and when we know more information, we will reach out to you. If we have been holding your tax return in anticipation of this exclusion, we are still waiting on software updates to be able to file an accurate tax return. As soon as we have those updates, we will reach out to you to finalize your tax return. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Regarding the Coronavirus, COVID-19 outbreak:
For the upcoming tax season, we are offering face to face appointments. For everyone’s health and safety, we are monitoring staff and clients for COVID-19 exposure and symptoms. Masks are required to enter our building. We will continue to offer virtual service as listed below if you prefer not to come in. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we do our part to help flatten the curve.
We continue to provide the options to drop, mail in, or electronically provide our office with your tax documents for completion. You can access our secure portal as well as client organizers using the Resources tab at the top of this page. Your existing appointment, if needed, can be completed via telephone. Please contact us for more information regarding this process.
Below are recommendations that have been given by the CDC, which our employees are following:
- Washing your hands with soap and water.
- Avoiding touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or upper sleeve when coughing or sneezing.
- Avoiding contact with people who are sick.
- Staying home if you are sick and contact your healthcare provider.
